Hard to find a place to hang such a large scroll!
90 x 37 inches
Last fall I attended a calligraphy performance by the group Ten-you Gumi at Berkeley. They produce very large pieces on paper stretched out on the floor, with brushes the size of small brooms. Based on the seal-script style of writing characters, they create dramatic expressionist images. This one is the characters ten (heaven) on the right, and ryuu (dragon).
The challenge for me was mounting such a large piece. I ended up using my 4’x8’ glass work table as the drying board.
I mounted it in a modern style, the equivalent of a “frameless” mounting.
