cintamani

Shaped like a fat teardrop, or perhaps an onion, the wishing jewel symbolizes the teachings of the Buddha. It is said to have the power to fulfill one’s deepest desires.

It is most often seen carried by Jizō and Kannon, but sometimes other deities too. The jewel is also associated with the dragon king of the sea, and is a popular motif in Chinese art.
