the Immovable
Mystic King
Fudō converts anger to salvation. He is the best-known of the fierce guardian kings of Buddhism, and is especially prominent in Shingon. The sword held in his right hand represents wisdom cutting through ignorance, and the rope in his left is used to catch and bind evil demons. Fudō is often shown surrounded by an areola of a purification flame--representing the burning away of material desires.
