experiment in making a 3-dimensional scroll
25 x 17 inches
The underlying artwork is a sumi ink painting of fish, originally from an old album of sea creatures. the overlying image of waves crashing against a cliff is painted on silk. This overlay layer folds down when the scroll is rolled up. It stands out in 3-D by the use of magnets sewn into the fūtai streamers, when the scroll is hung.
